Where to stay near Marcoule: Bagnols-sur-Cèze or Uzès for an assignment on site

A maintenance job, an inspection, a measurement campaign, a few weeks on a decommissioning project: assignments at Marcoule are often decided quickly, and accommodation is sought once the schedule is set. Marcoule at a glance

The Marcoule nuclear site was created in 1955 in the municipalities of Chusclan and Codolet, in the Gard rhodanien. The CEA Marcoule centre carries out research on the fuel cycle, fuel treatment and recycling, and waste management, as well as major clean-up and decommissioning projects. Orano operates the Melox plant there, which manufactures MOX fuel.

Around these operators work maintenance, engineering, inspection and decommissioning companies, whose teams come for a few days or for several months. Our business stays were designed with them in mind.

Bagnols-sur-Cèze: about ten minutes from the site

Bagnols-sur-Cèze is the nearest town. From its centre, it takes about 10 minutes by car to reach the site reception, a distance of 8 kilometres. This time is calculated without traffic: at shift start times, keep a few minutes in hand, and add the access control time your client will tell you about.

Uzès: forty minutes, a livelier town

Some prefer to drive a little further and come back in the evening to a town where you can dine outdoors and walk everywhere. From central Uzès, allow about 40 minutes by car to the Marcoule site reception, a distance of 34 kilometres, again without traffic.

Two apartments work well:

• La Loggia d'Uzès: a step-free one-bedroom apartment in a quiet residence, with Ethernet, washing machine and dishwasher. Parking is easy, which matters when you take the car every morning. The centre is a ten-minute walk.
• Le Saint Julien: a one-bedroom for two, exposed stone and original vaulting, right in the historic centre, with a desk corner. The car stays on the boulevards or in the car park at the edge of town, five minutes on foot.

A car, and a little organisation

The site is reached by car: plan for a personal or company vehicle. If you arrive late on Sunday evening, do your shopping on the way; self check-in means you do not wait for anyone to hand over the keys.
